The Law of Perpetual Transmutation

Think of your idea of a dream vacation, an object that you want, or even goals you want to achieve. Right now you just started the process of Perpetual Transmutation. Before we go any farther what is the law of Perpetual Transmutation? Let's break it up. Perpetual means: endless or uninterrupted. Trans means: across or beyond. Mutation means: change. So Perpetual Transmutation means: constantly changing into or out of physical form. Our thoughts and ideas are constantly coming into and out of form and that is Perpetual Transmutation. Ideas start as non-existent, then they become an idea,  then spiritual, which is believing you can achieve your idea and carrying out a plan to achieve your idea, and lastly the physical result or visible outcome. At any moment, your idea could go right back to non-existent. This is why your ideas are constantly changing and some become physical and some go back to non-existent.

Let’s take a look at Perpetual Transmutation in action. I set a goal at the beginning of 2020 to get my left and right splits. It was a pretty unimportant goal, but I was bored and it gave me something to do. I did not have an end date in mind, but I knew I would have to stretch every day to achieve my goal of getting the splits. I decided to stretch Monday through Friday for about an hour each day. Somedays I really did not want to stretch, but then I realized the only way I would get the splits was to keep stretching. As I did this every day, my splits started to get closer and closer to the ground. Then one day I got it! I actually got my right and left splits. It was the best feeling. What once had seemed very nearly impossible became reality. What had started as just an idea became tangible and real. I had actually accomplished my goal.

In this example, I got an idea to set the goal to try and get my left and right splits. This is the first part in Perpetual Transmutation. What once had been nonexistent had popped up as an idea. Then I set a goal and did it everyday. This is the second thing, which is spiritual creation. I was not able to do the splits yet, but I knew how I could one day and I knew how to get there. Then I got my splits. This is the last thing, making your idea physical. That is what I did. I made my idea become reality.

This is one example in my life, and there are so many more. You can even find Perpetual Transmutation in the changing forms of water. The changes of water are vapor which turns into clouds, which turns into rain, and then the rain turns into ice. At any moment in this cycle it can reverse. Just like our ideas can change.

So what can we do to make our ideas physical and not non-existent? What can we do to get the things we want? Here are some steps to help your ideas become physical:

  1. Believe

  2. Plan

  3. Take action

  4. Always keep the end in mind.

First, believe: not believing leads to doubt, disbelief, and disinterest which leads the thought/ idea back to nonexistence. We need to believe that our idea can become physical.

Second, plan: we need to plan a way to achieve the idea that we have. Otherwise we will be at a loss for what to do.

Third, take action: if we don’t act on our plan, we will not achieve what we want and nothing will happen.

Fourth, always keep the end in mind. Otherwise you will stop and wonder why you are doing what you are doing.

These are just a few things to help you bring ideas into physical form.  As you keep repeating the things that will help to make your ideas physical, your actions will not be done consciously, but subconsciously and they will become part of our daily life. Start today to make your dreams come true!

  1. I liked reading this, Sophie. I'd love to hear how your goal of the splits could move on the reverse. Not just the process of accomplishing the goal, but the reverse as well.

The Battle Raging for Our Minds

I had some amazing insights today that I wanted to quickly write. So this post is a bit hurried and not as polished as I usually like, but posting it will help me remember. And if you happen to read it, I hope you gain something from it as well. From my scripture journal: Amazing insights today! I read Alma chapter 47 and into chapter 48 today, and discovered something I had not seen before. Chapter 47 details how Amalikiah becomes king of the Lamanites. Specifically, I learned from the part about how he tricks Lehonti into giving him a position as second in command of the Lamanite armies, and then poisons Lehonti. We talk over and over about how Amalikiah lures Lehonti away from his stronghold and his fixed determination not to join with the rest of the Lamanite armies and fight the Nephites. And all those things are true. But like so many stories in the BOM, it has a counterpart. Lehonti’s fixed determination wasn’t enough. If he had such a fixed determination to not join w

So, That Didn't Go As I'd Planned...

Last October, as I taught Genius Bootcamp , I received some direction about what to do next , for which I was so grateful.  It led me to talk to the principal at my kids' school, which led to a job that has been a great blessing for our family.  It also provided me the opportunity to renew my teaching license, which in turn has opened up additional employment opportunities.  Andy and I have both felt that for us to reach our financial and family goals--that of following our church leaders' counsel and getting out of debt--that I need to get a full-time job.  Specifically, a full-time teaching job.  It is, after all, what my degree is in, and even just a few years of full time teaching will make a huge difference in our financial situation. So I applied for some teaching jobs.  With the teacher shortage I keep hearing that Utah is facing, I didn't think twice about whether or not I'd actually get a job.  That is, until I interviewed for one that I thought would be perf

Who Is Influencing You?

We have really been going the rounds as a family.  Fighting, bickering, blaming, yelling, screaming, shouting (and that's just Mom!).  We've tried talking about the inappropriateness of the behavior, emphasizing positive qualities of our kids to their irritated siblings, and praying for guidance as to what to do.  We have made efforts to increase our family prayer and scripture study, relying on the promise that increasing our time in the scriptures would increase the Spirit in our home.  To be fair, those efforts have all but disappeared during the summer, but it was a serious concern for us even as we made diligent efforts.  The contention seemed to be ever-present, even when (even while!) we were regularly studying. But in talking to one of my daughters about this problem, I may have hit on an aspect of it that we haven't addressed before. She was particularly upset with one of her sisters.  I asked her how she thought Heavenly Father felt about that sister.  What word
